Silver Mountain Water by Creed is an Aromatic fragrance for women and men launched in 1995. The perfumers behind this fragrance are Olivier Creed and Pierre Bourdon.
This is one of Creed’s most successful perfumes, and ever since its release, it’s always been very popular. I believe this is actually one of their all-time bestselling scents.

I recently received a sample of this iconic scent from my partner. This is my experience of wearing Silver Mountain Water.
What does Silver Mountain Water by Creed smell like?
Silver Mountain Water is a green scent that smells like citrus and milky-sweet blackcurrant mixed with green tea on top of a base of sandalwood.
I love how the opaque white bottle hints at the icy snowbanks that are said to have inspired this fragrance. The opening reminds me a bit of Creed’s Imperial Millesime. Probably it’s because of the addition of bergamot and citrus to both scents. It smells really fresh – like someone just stepped out of a shower.

My Experience
This clean scent opens with a blast of citrus notes. After about 25 minutes, I could start detecting the green tea and some of the black currant. At this stage, it’s really the citrus and the black currant that stand out quite prominently.
As the scent progresses, the musk starts becoming much stronger, and I think it provides a good anchor for the scent. At this stage, the green tea note also starts coming out a lot more. Previously I could only detect it faintly, but not it really comes to the fore.
Once the scent has dried down, the opening and heart notes sit atop a smooth sandalwood base. I really enjoyed the progression of this scent. The opening was probably my least favorite part, as I’ve never been a fan of really sharp and tart openings. However, it still wasn’t unpleasant, and it was quickly mellowed out by the green tea.
This is definitely a scent I can imagine wearing a lot of. It’s clean and fresh with a nice herbal vibe to it. It’s a simple formulation but executed beautifully.
Sillage & Projection
I’d rate both the sillage and projection as being moderate. People will be able to tell that you are wearing it, but it’s by no means suffocating.
Longevity & Versatility
Longevity-wise, I’d rate it as moderate. I get around 4 hours of wear which, if I’m being honest, is a little disappointing for a fragrance at this price point. I wore it to work a few times, and by lunchtime, it was quite hard to detect on some days. Of course, you could reapply it, but I was expecting more from this scent.
In terms of versatility, it scores quite high. It’s something you can wear anywhere and will always work. That being said, for something like a date or special occasion, I’d opt for something that’s a bit more sultry. This is a great fragrance for the spring or summer, but a bit too light and airy for the colder months for my taste.
Closing thoughts
If you get a chance to try out Silver Mountain Water, by all means, do it. It’s one of Creed’s bestsellers for a reason. The quality of the ingredients is excellent, and it’s a clean and fresh fragrance that’s really a delight to wear.
That being said, it does come with a very hefty price tag. For that reason, I won’t recommend someone blind buy it. However, more than just not knowing how much you’ll love something until you try it, the fact of the matter is that, at least on my skin, the performance isn’t out of this world. So I feel this is a scent to carefully consider before you add it to your collection.
