The creators behind this Abercrombie & Fitch fragrance share a story of the fragrance, which is meant for strong, independent women. Those women who choose to wear Authentic Night Femme have outgoing personalities and like to share life’s real and unexpected moments with friends. They are self-aware and not afraid to express themselves.
At the same time, the designers wanted women to feel playful and classy while seeking elegance in every step they took. Abercrombie & Fitch Authentic Night Femme formula was therefore based on this idea by combining woody, floral, and fruity scents.
I already had a few other Abercromby & Fitch scents, so I was given a sample of Authentic Night Femme as a gift. Because I liked the version for men, I decided to try it.
What Does Authentic Night Femme by Abercrombie & Fitch Smell Like?
The main notes in Authentic Night Femme by Abercrombie & Fitch are fruity and floral, which is in line with the brand’s history. The top three tones are black currant, apple, and pink pepper. The middle notes are tuberose, jasmine sambac, and magnolia, which soften the strong combinations of the top three tones. Lastly, the formula is completed with patchouli, sandalwood, and cedar.
Top Notes | Black Currant, Apple, Pink Pepper |
Middle Notes | Tuberose, Jasmine Sambac, Magnolia |
Base Notes | Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedar |
A very citrusy and sour combination of top notes has been balanced with very toned-down and mild flower notes. The base is dominated by the woody element in an attempt to add a deep and dark vibe. So, the scent is not too strong and overpowering, but it is still different enough from other scents in the collection to stand out.
My Experience
Authentic Night Femme was released with the version for men that I had a chance to try. I liked it because of the new approach to selecting aromas. Therefore, I hoped that Authentic Night Femme would have a similar effect.
However, the opening of Authentic Night Femme didn’t surprise me. After I put it on, the scent was mostly fruity for the first few minutes. The presence of the apple was very noticeable, but at the same time, it was toned down by the pink pepper. Contrary to other scents that often smell cheap because of their apple dominance, Authentic Night Femme was rather refreshing. This combination also made the fragrance a pleasant and moderately sweet scent that I really liked.
Even though the opening was quite similar to any other fragrance by the brand, the new approach in aroma can be felt as the fragrance sets in because of the middle note selection. I liked that the tuberose and jasmine sambac, which are very new notes in the palette of Abercrombie & Fitch. They created a creamy and powdery combination of aromas. However, this is where the innovation ends for the fragrance. I still notice that the flowers tone down the fruity scent and change it, which gives the scent a nice balance and a different smell.
I didn’t mind that the formula changed since the blend mixed with body aroma, and created a bit of a woody and deep scent. This is thanks to the very visible sandalwood and cedar combination that go great with the apple aroma.
These were the key elements that made me feel like this fragrance could be used during the night on any formal or informal occasion.
At moments, I felt like the Authentic Night Femme reminded me of the very famous Good Girl by Carolina Herrera. Even though the formula of this fragrance is much more complex and darker, the similarity between flower tones used to balance the dominant components is visible. Besides this, I couldn’t think of any other fragrance similar to Authentic Night Femme, which does not belong to Abercrombie & Fitch.
Silage & Projection
The good silage that is consistent with other Abercrombie & Fitch fragrances is also visible in Authentic Night Femme. Even with just one spray, it can be felt comfortably for a fair amount of time. Even if there is room for improvement, the projection is also very good, and I can feel it radiate off my skin for a good amount of time.
Longevity & Versatility
Since Authentic Night Femme only lasts for around 6 hours, its duration is a little unimpressive. I had to keep applying it all day. Besides this, the majority of the aroma blend is maintained throughout wear. I like that it is adaptable, but I used it only at night because it has a darker aroma.
Conclusion
Authentic Night Femme seems to me like a typical mid-range fragrance. It is different from other Abercrombie & Fitch fragrances, but I think the uniqueness could be improved, especially when compared to other similar fragrances on the market. In this regard, I believe the version for men was far more successful than Authentic Night Femme.
On the other hand, I liked that the fragrance is fresh and soft, as well as that the formulation of the apple is not sour. But that is really where my good impression ends.
I would like to see new aromas used in middle tones, which is why I wouldn’t spend my money on this fragrance unless I was looking for a cheaper dark scent option.
