Dior Homme Sport 2021 by Dior is a Woody Spicy fragrance for men released in 2022. The nose behind this fragrance is Francois Demachy.
Dior Homme Sport 2021 is a new fragrance and part of the iconic Dior Homme collection. The keynotes of this Woody Spicy fragrance are Lemon, Bergamot, Aldehydes and Olibanum.
A note from Dior:
Vibrant, explosive and immediately recognizable, the opening signature of Dior Homme Sport is marked by citrus and open-air freshness. For this new fragrance, the Dior Perfumer-Creator chose to fashion the eau de toilette with warm and ambery notes, wrap it in spices and round it out with woody notes. The confident trail of Dior Homme Sport incarnates a masculinity entwined with a smooth, noble quality.

A friend recently gave me a sample of this relatively new fragrance. This is my opinion on Dior’s latest Dior Homme scent.
What does Dior Homme Sport 2021 by Dior smell like?
Dior Homme Sport 2021 has a strong lemony-bergamot fresh opening with an interesting aldehydes note and a woody and ambery dry-down.
I can’t really talk about this scent without comparing it to Dior Homme 2020. Although I find a lot of similarities between the two, I find Dior Homme Sport to have more citrusy and spicy notes in the opening. And then, of course, it’s the aldehyde note that really sets this sport version apart.
I know a few people that dislike the fragrance exactly because of this aldehydic note, as it reminds them too much of fresh, clean linen. While I can certainly pick up that note, I only see it as a positive as it’s so fitting to this type of clean and fresh scent.
This fragrance also makes me think of Chanel Allure Homme Sport Cologne with the inclusion of the resinous elemi note. Or a fuller-bodied Versace Eau Fraiche, the way the aldehyde note sneaks up on the tail end.

The first spray hits me with a blast of lemon and bergamot. Then a few seconds later, I get a kick from the pink pepper. I love the freshness of the aldehyde note that comes out a few minutes later. I feel the fresh laundry smell is absolutely perfect for this type of fragrance.
As I mentioned earlier, to my nose, it’s the fresh aldehydes that distinguish this scent from other versions of Dior Homme. As the scent starts the dry down, I can really start picking up the woody notes while the elemi adds more depth to the scent.
As the scent settles, I feel the lemon isn’t as thick as it was in the beginning, but it remains the defining aspect of this fragrance.
Sillage & Projection
I’d rate the sillage as light to moderate. On my skin, I have a scent trail for about 2 hours, and then slowly, it starts becoming a skin scent. The projection is moderate overall and in line with what I expect from a fragrance like this.
Longevity & Versatility
This is something I’d wear in the warmer months personally, but I think it could also be a great fit year-round. So this is a great candidate to become someone’s signature scent.
I find this fragrance to be highly versatile as it’s so inoffensive and clean. It’s absolutely office-proof, and I’ve been using my sample as a daily, everyday scent for the past week. For a date or nightlife, it could work, but if I owned a bottle, I know I’d rather be reaching for something that’s a bit sexier than this sport fragrance.
I applaud Dior for their interesting take on a sport fragrance. I usually expect ‘sport’ fragrances to depend on more typical citrus notes. Instead, Dior Homme Sport 2021 gets its freshness from several notes that have a lemony aspect, like the olibanum, elemi, and lemony-waxy aldehydes.
This makes this scent pretty unique in this category and a fantastic option for someone looking for a sport fragrance that’s just a bit more unique than usual.
This scent is for sure a crowd-pleaser and blind-buy safe. It’s worthy of a bottle, in my opinion, thanks to how incredibly versatile it is.
