What does Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch smell like?
The ingredients in Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Sheer are a little different from those in other fragrances from the same collection. The top dominant notes are mountain air, bergamot and pink pepper which is a powerful combination. These are followed by middle notes of orange blossom, lily-of-the-valley and hibiscus together with amber, musk, and woody base notes.
Top Notes | Mountain Air, Bergamot, Pink Pepper |
Middle Notes | Orange Blossom, Lily-of-the-Valley, Hibiscus |
Base Notes | Amber, Musk and Woody Notes |
The combination of toned down and airy tones with aromatic and creamy middle and base tones gives the formula a nice and fresh scent to reflect the inspiration.
My Experience
Before I got Sheer as a gift, I had tried First Instinct, and I really wasn’t super amazed by it. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the nice blend of scents I felt in the first few minutes that I tried First Instinct Sheer. I really didn’t expect this from Abercombie & Fitch. I especially like how they moved away from strong fruity smells and toward a fresh and creamy aroma. This was a new experience for me since I am used to dark and dominant fragrances.
A nice, pleasant aroma that included a mix of bergamot notes with pink pepper felt very good on the skin. It was intense but not overpowering. However, this aroma can at times be a bit too dry, but luckily, the creators nicely balanced it out with the effect of mountain air. In this way, they achieved a very light aroma that felt fresh on the skin.
This opening reminded me of my summer vacation in the Mediterranean Sea. I usually get this vibe from “blue” fragrances such as Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense. Speaking of similar fragrances, I quite like First Instinct Sheer’s unique vibe. I mentioned Light Blue, which has a similar vibe, but that is where all similarities end. Aside from that, I couldn’t think of any scents that were similar to this one, which is a good thing in my opinion. I like to have a unique and recognizable fragrance.
Speaking of vibes, once the middle notes started to appear, the fragrance became bright and green. This is mainly because the orange blossom started to have more intensity. Even so, I got a very nice, summery aroma that nicely complemented the lily of the valley and hibiscus notes.
This is when I noticed the First Instinct Sheer developing personality and becoming recognizable. Also, this combination made the fragrance feel clean and smooth as it set on the skin.
The musk and amber added to the fragrance’s simplicity and airiness, making it even better and more mature. This minimal presence of woody notes in the base made me feel a bit mysterious while wearing First Instinct Sheer while also standing out in the crowd. Because of it, I think that Sheer was a perfect fit for me.
Silage & Projection
Similarly, like other Abercrombie & Fitch fragrances, First Instinct Sheer was a very well-performing scent. It had good projection without being heavy. The aroma was very present on my clothes, and it radiated off my skin. Similarly, Sheer has a moderate silage that I could feel all around me for quite some time.
Longevity & Versatility
The longevity of this Abercrombie & Fitch scent is good. I liked that Sheer continued to be present for 7 hours after using it, and even longer when sprayed on clothing. Even though it was a moderate scent, I could feel it for a while without the need to apply it again.
I particularly enjoyed how it could be used for daily activities thanks to its mild scent. As its perfume is quite universal, it works with various styles and outfits. It is a fantastic option for the warmer months of the year.
Conclusion
When I wore First Instinct Sheer by Abercrombie & Fitch, I got many compliments. As I already said, this is one of the somewhat pleasing scents that works quite well. I am typically a fan of stronger and darker aromas, but First Instinct Sheer was a great gift that I used daily. It’s a clean, sunny, and very warm aroma. This is because I liked the mild and pleasant notes that are great for the office and everyday activities.
Therefore, I think that Abercrombie & Fitch made a great fragrance with First Instinct Sheer that has a good, moderate, but masculine aroma that nicely reflects the inspiration used for its creation. For me, this fragrance has quite good value for money, and I would purchase it as soon as I ran out of my gift.
