Abercrombie & Fitch released the First Instinct Together fragrance for women in 2020. This fruity floral fragrance from the First Instinct collection comes as an Eau de Parfum concentration. At the same time as the version for women, Abercrombie & Fitch also released a version for women.
In addition to these two, the collection also has a number of scents that are based on the original First Instinct.

The perfumers who worked on First Instinct Together for her desired a scent that embodied the modern woman and her daily, real, and unexpectedly sweet moments. Therefore, they created the scent that will make a woman appear attractive, confident, and self-aware. Additionally, she would be the feminine model who is up for any difficult situation that stands in her way.
Recently, I received a sample of Together as part of a promotion deal at a fragrance store, and I really liked the background story. Because of the content list and my past experience with a few other scents from the First Instinct collection, I knew I would like Together.
What does First Instinct Together by Abercrombie & Fitch smell like?
The combination of notes in First Instinct Together has been kept simple and very much in line with Abercrombie & Fitch’s traditional selection. The top notes include pineapple and red currant. The middle notes are dominated by floral aromas of lily-of-the-valley and peony. The formula is completed with musk, amber, and sandalwood base notes
Top Notes | Pineapple, Red Currant |
Middle Notes | Lily-of-the-Valley and Peony |
Base Notes | Musk, Amber, Sandalwood |
This set of notes was chosen to show the balance between fruity and floral scents. In this way, the blend that was created connected nicely with the self-confidence and femininity that served as inspiration for the fragrance.
My Experience
I was very much looking forward to the summer fragrance by Abercrombie & Fitch. Finding a smell that is light, clean, and moderately sweet is extremely challenging for me. I am not a huge fan of citrus-dominated scents with a lot of sugar in them.
Lucky for me, the brand that created Together managed to make a moderate and very pleasant opening with just the right amount of sweetness, which is why I initially thought that Together’s formula was a great catch.
The opening of First Instinct Together also felt very innovative, especially because the note of pineapple didn’t make the fragrance harsh or unpleasant. The red currant added an additional touch to the aroma of the fragrance. I felt like the Together was more delicately sweet than syrupy, and to my surprise, the pineapple nicely balanced it without having an alcohol-infused aroma like in the men’s version.
As the scent settled into the skin, it got softer and more moderate without being too floral. So, the amount of peony and lily was just right to add a touch of vibrancy without overpowering the nicely balanced top notes. This combination also gave off a very clean and fresh vibe, which is a great thing, especially for summer fragrances.
This bland of aromas was present for the rest of the time I was wearing the fragrance, which is something I appreciated a lot. There was no harsh transitioning, and the base aromas appeared slowly and continued without changing the scent completely. Woody and musk notes helped to achieve a nice, toned-down aroma without losing the airy summer feeling I liked. Also, these aromas gave the scent a touch of maturity and femininity that similar scents often lack.
Speaking of the aroma and vibe that Together had, I really associated it with Cloud by Ariana Grande. I could tell that the main thing they had in common was that both had aromatic woody notes and a nice, layered scent, but I liked the blend in First Instinct Together better.
Overall, besides minor similarities with Cloud, the aroma in First Instinct Together felt nice and unique, which made me like it even more.
Silage & Projection
The performance by First Instinct Together was very good. For a while, I could feel the silage trailing behind me. The fragrance radiated strongly off my skin and attracted the attention of people around me, so the projection was also quite good.
Longevity & Versatility
The First Instinct Together had good longevity for a summer fragrance. With a good amount of spray, I could feel the fragrance for a good 7 hours, after which it lost its intensity.
The creators did a very good job making this fragrance fresh and summery yet mature and toned down. The mix of aromas made it suitable for everyone, and it can be easily used during the day or even during office hours. It is a perfect choice for a fragrance to use in warm parts of the year.
Conclusion
I feel like First Instinct Together for women performed much better than the version for men. I really enjoyed wearing the fragrance, which, besides its freshness and lightness, made me feel feminine and very empowered.
The combination of aromas is not unique, but the blend and their concentration were done well, which made it appear very innovative. More importantly, the aroma didn’t feel sweet and too fruity, which is usually the case with summer fragrances.
I could feel like the fragrance also had consistency, very good performance, and really reflected the inspiration used when creating it.
Because of all these elements, I think that First Instinct Together is an amazing summer fragrance that is sweet and fruity and yet keeps me fresh throughout the day. So, I will definitely buy this Abercrombie & Fitch fragrance, which, in addition to being affordable, fits my personality and has all the qualities I look for in a scent.
