I recently got a sample of Invictus Platinum when I ordered a different perfume. This is what I had to think of this scent.
What does Invictus Platinum by Paco Rabanne smell like?
Invictus Platinum has a fresh, sweet, masculine, warm, and inviting profile. The sweetness of the notes is perfectly balanced with the greener notes.
The opening of this fragrance is very similar to Parfums De Marly Kalan. Overall it reminds me most of Bad Boy Cobalt, but Invictus Platinum is less dirty-earthy smelling than Cobalt. So basically, it has that same lovely fresh and clean smell of Cobalt without the dirt.
The moment I smell this scent, it immediately makes me think of a party on the beach with my best friends. It’s fresh and uplifting and, quite frankly, just smells like good times.

Middle Notes | Mint and Lavender |
Base Notes | Cypress and Patchouli |
My Experience
The moment I sprayed this scent, it was like a can of sweetish grapefruit soda. I expected more of a bitter grapefruit, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the opening. Soon after this, I pick up a bit of mint. For a moment, it reminded me of mint toothpaste which isn’t always pleasant, but luckily this didn’t last long.
I can pick up other green notes as well, but the absinthe isn’t distinct enough for me to know that it’s exactly that which I’m picking up. These green notes do certainly balance out the scent from veering too much into the sweet and sugary territory.
As the scent continues to dry down, I get more of the lavender. It’s more of a modern lavender note that you get these days. So it’s plushier and almost like lavender ice cream as it’s slightly vanillic.
As with most of Paco Rabanne’s fragrances, there’s a little bit of a sweet undertone throughout the entire longevity of Invictus Platinum. Overall, it’s still clean and even lightly herbal.
Although I certainly like the scent, it didn’t blow me away, but it has all the elements to make it a very popular scent, as it’s absolutely a crowd-pleaser.
Sillage & Projection
The sillage of Invictus Platinum is fantastic. In the few times I’ve worn it so far, I’ve gotten two compliments from people that were standing a bit away from me at the bar. The projection of this scent is also great.
Longevity & Versatility
In terms of versatility, it’s worth the title of a “dumb reach” because this could probably work in most temperatures and situations. I really think you would be able to wear it anywhere, anytime, whether it’s summer or the dead of winter.
If I decided to buy a bottle, I would wear it primarily as a summer scent, but this could be a great option for someone’s signature scent throughout the year. The longevity is also really good, and every time I get at least 8 hours of wear.
Closing thoughts
If someone is a bit bored with the original Invictus but still really like the original DNA, then Invictus Platinum is a must-try. It’s basically a green take on the original DNA. It’s a simple, clean, and easy-to-wear scent that you never have to think about it. You can wear it anywhere without ever having to worry that it will be out of place.
Given its versatility and great performance in terms of sillage, projection, and longevity, this scent is full bottle worthy. That being said, if you are looking for something that’s super unique, this might not be for you. It’s one of those fragrances that you will be smelling a lot of, so if that sounds off-putting to you, then you might want to give it a pass for the time being.
