Joy by Dior by Dior is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women released in 2018 as an Eau de Parfum. The nose behind this fragrance is Francois Demachy.
Joy by Dior was quite popular just as it was released but didn’t manage to keep up that level of interest in the years after that. You can also get an accompanying shower gel and cream. In 2019 a flanker was released, Joy Intense.
The scent is a floral scent, and the keynotes are Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, Jasmine, Grasse Rose, Peach, Cassis, White Musk, Sandalwood, Cedar, Patchouli, and Benzoin.

A friend recently gave me a sample of Joy by Dior. These are my thoughts on this fragrance.
What does Joy by Dior smell like?
It opens with a burst of white flowers and citrus. This makes it a clean and crisp-smelling fragrance.
Dior tried to create this feeling of lightness and happiness – pure joy. I wouldn’t say they missed the mark, but perhaps I was expecting more from this perfume. The bottle and the color are definitely fun and light. Nothing overly complex in the design or the scent itself.
I found it to be quite similar to Miss Guided Babe Power but more sophisticated and less scratchy.

My Experience
The first time I smelled the perfume, it felt very light and crisp, but still very floral. I wasn’t able to automatically detect what exact citrus fruit was in the scent as it’s overpowered by the florals.
Despite all the other keynotes on my skin, the perfume remains overwhelmingly floral, and especially the Jasmine and the Grasse Rose come through. I expected it to keep more of that lightness and crispness throughout the day, but on me, it was just a pretty heavy floral scent.
It lasted about 6 hours, which is okay, but I absolutely expected a luxury perfume to perform a bit better overall before trying it.
Sillage & Projection
I found the sillage and projection to be okay overall. I expected slightly more from a perfume at this price. Don’t expect someone at the opposite end of the room to smell your perfume, but people within arms-length should pick it up. The sillage is moderate on me for the first hour, then soft thereafter.
Longevity & Versatility
It’s definitely a pretty versatile perfume that you could, in theory, wear all year round. But if I had to really pick a season, it feels most appropriate for spring. think there are fragrances better suited to very cold and very hot weather. I’d also say it’s slightly better for the day than the evening.
You can absolutely wear it anywhere. It would work for the office or any other event, really. Even on an airplane, it wouldn’t be offensive to anyone. It’s really a crowd-pleaser. Although I’d pick out something a bit more seductive for a date or clubbing. I wore my sample to the office, and it felt that fresh, crispness made it the perfect accessory to my work day.
The longevity is moderate, and it lasted about 6 hours on my skin. Again, for a luxury perfume, I was hoping for something a little bit more decent.
Closing thoughts
If you want something fresh, floral, clean, and crisp you should give it a try. I think it’s a great perfume for all ages if this is the type of scent you like. I wouldn’t say it’s worth a blind buy given it’s quite pricey. Rather get a sample first and see how it reacts with your skin. Overall, at this price point, I’d personally opt for something a bit more unique.
It’s not a very complex perfume, and that’s also fine, but if you are looking for something that really makes a statement or stands out, then this might not be the perfume for you. Overall I find Joy a bit generic.
