The scent is a favorite among men and has been a staple in the industry for over 30 years. Fahrenheit EDT by Dior is part of the Fahrenheit Collection, which includes other fragrances such as Fahrenheit 32, Fahrenheit Le Parfum, and Fahrenheit Absolute.

A word by the perfumer:
Creativity, distinction and character: the Fahrenheit signature is unique—manly yet subtle—for men with a love of freedom.

A friend recently gave me a sample of Fahrenheit. He knows I’ve been so keen to try this scent since I’ve heard so many people gush about it. This is what I thought about this classic EDT by Dior.
What does Fahrenheit by Dior smell like?
Fahrenheit by Dior is a woody, spicy scent with a warm, masculine aroma that is both sophisticated and modern.
This fragrance is undeniably masculine. Fahrenheit captures the enigma and duality of a man: It’s mysterious, intense, and complex, but kind, warm, and approachable at the same time.
This scent reminds me quite a bit of Mercedez Benz Intense Perfume because of its similar scent profile. Both fragrances feature notes of lavender, sandalwood, and tonka bean, giving them a warm, woody, and slightly spicy aroma. It’s also very similar to Hugo Boss Bottled Night but more stripped back (in a good way).
|Top Notes||Nutmeg Flower, Lavender, Cedar, Chamomile, Mandarin Orange, Hawthorn, Bergamot and Lemon|
|Middle Notes||Violet Leaf, Nutmeg, Cedar, Sandalwood, Carnation, Honeysuckle, Jasmine and Lily-of-the-Valley|
|Base Notes||Leather, Vetiver, Musk, Amber, Patchouli and Tonka Bean|
The opening has quite a kick! Its spicy-sweet pepperiness is complemented by green woody earthiness. This is followed by the leather and more spice, and a bit of cedar. I also pick up a strong gasoline smell, but that only lasts for about 10 minutes. After an hour, the floral notes become more prominent and mix with the leathery and woody notes.
The middle is actually quite fresh, but it retains that spicy warmth which I absolutely love. At this point, I begin to notice more musky and animalic notes.
The dry-down is just beautiful. Woody, sweet, spicy, fresh, and with notes of musky leather and warm amber. The vetiver and the patchouli clean it up and bring it all together. I find this scent to be old-fashioned but surely not outdated, i.e., a classic!
Sillage & Projection
The sillage of Fahrenheit by Dior EDT is moderate to strong. It has a strong initial projection that will last for several hours before fading away.
Longevity & Versatility
Fahrenheit is a versatile fragrance that can be worn for any occasion. It has a warm, spicy scent that is perfect for casual daytime wear as well as for a night out. Personally, I wouldn’t wear it during the summer or the warmer months of spring. I tried it on a cool day, and the warm spiciness of the scent felt so fitting for cooler weather.
The longevity of this EDT is really good. The first time I tried it, I sprayed it on around noon, and by late in the evening, I could still pick it up. So overall, for an EDT, it has a solid performance.
A word of caution: on the first spray, you might not like it, but wait for it to work its magic and allow layers to develop before dismissing this scent. I find that some people instantly love this scent and others absolutely hate it, so I’d not recommend this as a safe blind buy.
Don’t be put off if you don’t like the strong gasoline scent in the opening. As I mentioned on my skin, it went away after 10 minutes. It’s definitely worth trying a sample if you enjoy any kind of leathery note in fragrances.
It’s perfect for someone looking for a scent that’s super unique and one that will make a statement. Although I personally would only wear it during the cooler months, it can be a great year-round scent. As it’s also so versatile, it could easily become someone’s signature scent.
