Armand Petitjean, a visionary perfumer, founded Lancome in 1935. The company’s vision of making women happier by making them more beautiful became its rallying cry as it offered diverse products that appealed to women. They released skincare essentials, cosmetics, fragrances, and gift sets that made women worldwide feel special and appreciated.
The Lancome perfume house has released 171 fragrances through the years, with each scent capturing the essence of femininity in various forms. The company has had several sought-after scents which appeal to women (and men) of all ages. The La Vie Est Belle and Tresor fragrance lineups have stood the test of time and continue to mesmerize people.
Lancome commissions the best perfumers and uses high-quality ingredients to create different scents that amaze and make women feel great about themselves. They feel elegant and classy whenever they spray Lancome’s highly-touted fragrances.
Hypnose
Hypnotically Fragrant
Thierry Wasser and Annick Menardo collaborated and created Hypnose EDP, and the company released the fragrance in 2005. The fragrance was described as an amber-vanilla combination that appealed to the audience. They package the scent in a bottle that resembles the silhouette of a woman.
A seductive passion flower opens the fragrance and sets the mood right. Sultry jasmine and gardenia comprise the heart notes and continue to enthrall before the comforting warmth of vetiver and vanilla kick in as the base notes.
It is perfect for romantic nights out with someone special during the winter and fall, as the scent will captivate the senses.
Idole
Fragrantly Floral
Lancome scored an achievement when they let three women perfumers, Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina, and Nadège Le Garlantezec, collaborated to create Idole. They released the fragrance in 2019 in a simple glass bottle that underscored the scent’s femininity.
Refreshingly spicy pink peppers combine with zesty bergamot and pear to appeal as the top notes. The scent’s heart notes are comprised of sultry smooth jasmine and rose. The minty warmth of patchouli, cedar, white musk, and vanilla ties up the fragrance perfectly.
Idole is ideal for office and daily wear, especially during the spring and summer, as the captivating scent will create a tantalizing trail.
L’Autre Oud
Perfect Homage
Lancome asked Christophe Raynaud to craft an homage to their founder Armand Petitjean, and the perfumer came up with the L’Autre Oud. The rich, amber fragrance was housed in an intricately designed bottle highlighting its class and sophistication.
A beautiful blend of labdanum, clary sage, saffron, and Cypriol instantly appeals to the senses before the fragrance evolves into the delicate sweet undertones of Bulgarian and Turkish rose. Finally, the sultry smooth mix of guaiac wood, balsam tree, myrrh, moss, vetiver, patchouli, and oud evoke a familiar warmth.
It is perfect for fall and winter evenings of romance and companionship, as the fragrance is quite long-lasting.
La Nuit Tresor L’Eau de Parfum
Darkly Sweet
Amandine Clerc-Marie partnered with Christophe Raynaud to create the darkly sweet fragrance of La Nuit Tresor L’Eau de Parfum, which the company released in 2018. They described the scent as an amber vanilla fragrance and housed it in a glittery black diamond-shaped bottle.
Refreshing bergamot, tangerine, and pear immediately appeal to the senses before the gorgeous floral fruity combination of passion fruit, strawberry, black rose, and vanilla orchid envelop the wearer. Finally, the scent’s seductively sweet and smooth mixture of vanilla, coffee, praline, tonka bean, patchouli, incense, lychee, and papyrus cap the fragrance.
It is best worn on nighttime, romantic dates as the scent alludes to the wearer’s mystery and depth.
La Vie Est Belle
Luscious & Sweet
Lancome commissioned three perfumers – Anne Flipo, Olivier Polge, and Dominique Ropion – to develop a floral fruity gourmand fragrance, and the trio came up with La Vie Est Belle. The company released the scent in 2012 and packaged it in a redesigned classic Lancome bottle.
Tart black currant pairs well with pears as the top notes that demand attention. The scent morphs into sultry undertones of jasmine, orange blossoms, and iris in the heart notes before the sweet and smooth praline, patchouli, tonka bean, and vanilla base notes envelop the wearer during the drydown.
Wear the scent for nighttime romps with friends or someone special during fall and winter.
La Vie Est Belle En Rose
Vibrantly Fresh
The duo of Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion came up with La Vie Est Belle En Rose, and the company debuted the fragrance in 2019. They described the scent as a fresher and more luminous version of the original.
Perfectly blended raspberries, red berries, pink peppers, and bergamot demand attention as the scent’s top notes. The middle notes are composed of delicate and sweet undertones of roses, lily-of-the-valley, and peony. Sultry iris teams well with patchouli, sandalwood, and musk to cap the fragrance.
The fragrance is suited for daily wear, although it can easily transition to an evening scent during the spring and fall.
Magie Noire
Dramatically Elegant
Lancome released Magie Noire in 1978, and the fragrance is still available for purchase to this day. The name means “black magic” in French and was the creation of the trio of Gerard Goupy, Jean-Charles Niel, and Yves Tanguy.
Cassis, hyacinth, bergamot, raspberry, galbanum, and Bulgarian rose dominate the top notes. The sweet blend of honey, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, tuberose, cedar, narcissus, ylang-ylang, and orris root take over as the heart notes. The spicy, warm, and comfortable base notes of patchouli, civet, spices, oakmoss, sandalwood, musk, vetiver, incense, amber, and myrrh round out the robust scent.
Magie Noire is great for evening dates during fall and winter.
Miracle
Oriental Sweetness
Alberto Morillas, Harry Fremont, and Christian Dussoulier came up with Miracle for the company in 2000. The trio captured the essence of energy and radiance when they combined different scents to create a floral fragrance.
The oriental sweetness of lychee coupled with sultry freesia demands head turns as opening notes. Then, the spicy sweet blend of peppers, mandarin oranges, ginger, magnolia, and jasmine takes over as the heart notes and continues to enthrall. Finally, the perfect combination of musk, amber, and jasmine ground the scent.
Miracle is recommended for daily wear, although it can do well for casual afternoon dates, especially in spring and summer.
Tresor
Comfortably Floral
Sophia Grosjman perfectly captured the essence of treasure when she came up with Tresor for Lancome in 1990. One of the brand’s most sought-after perfumes, Tresor is a warm floral-oriental mix that doesn’t disappoint.
Tropical notes of fresh pineapple and bergamot pair well with peach and floral undertones of lilac, rose, and apricot blossom. Delicately heady scents of heliotrope, rose, iris and jasmine come through as the middle notes before the scent evolves into a terrific blend of musk, sandalwood, amber, and vanilla with fruity notes of peach and apricot to ground the fragrance.
It is perfect for nighttime activities with friends, especially during autumn, winter, and spring.
Tresor Midnight Rose
Gorgeously Seductive
Lancome drew inspiration from the romantic Parisian atmosphere when it came up with Tresor Midnight Rose in 2011. The scent reflects the vibrancy and seductiveness of the city, and the company packaged it in a purple-tinged bottle that highlighted its sophistication.
Zesty raspberry and rose stand out as the top notes. Exotic and seductive undertones of currant blossom and jasmine combine with peony and pink peppers to exude confidence and strength in the middle notes. The cedar, vanilla, and musk blend round out the scent and evoke a comforting warmth.
It is suitable for nightcaps and casual dates during the autumn, spring, and winter.
